Pastoral assistant is a term used for various offices in the Roman Catholic Church .

Germany

In Germany , the pastoral assistant is a person who is in training (professional introduction) to become a pastoral consultant.

Austria

In Austria , the pastoral assistant is a similar position, which does not necessarily require a university degree in theology , but can also be exercised after completing a secondary vocational school, such as the seminar for church professions .

Switzerland

In Switzerland , the pastoral assistant is a person with a fully completed theological training, but without ordination , who works in parish pastoral care. Even secularized priests were appointed to positions in which they as a pastoral assistant or as a lay theologian were called. The term pastoral assistant is sometimes also used in Protestant free churches, for example in Pentecostal churches or the Adventists.
