Patent Prosecution Highway

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) is an agreement between patent offices to mutually accelerate patent application processes .

As soon as the submitted patent claims have been classified as grantable by an initial search office, the applicant can take advantage of the PPH program at the partner offices. They will then process the registration more quickly, but without being bound by the previous examination result. This is intended to increase the quality of the test and at the same time make the process more efficient.

The official PPH portal with an overview of the countries or organizations between which a PPH agreement exists is provided by the Japanese Patent Office .

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) launched a PPH pilot program under the PCT on January 29, 2010 . The PPH application is based on a written notification or a preliminary review report from the PCT authority.

The Global Patent Prosecution Highway Pilot Program (GPPH) started on January 6, 2014 and is intended to simplify application through standardized guidelines.
