The Institute for Peace Research (Norwegian: Institutt for fredsforskning , English: Peace Research Institute Oslo , PRIO) in Oslo ( Norway ) is the first peace research institute in Europe and was founded in 1959 by Johan Galtung . The institute has significantly shaped the development of peace and conflict research .

The institute publishes two journals, Journal of Peace Research and Security Dialogue .
