Perry (drink)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Perry is a sparkling fruit wine related to French cider or British cider , with pears instead of apples being used as the base. Other names are Poiré in French or Pear Cider in English.

It should be noted, however, that the name Pear Cider is not protected for Perrys, so that apple-based cider can also be sold under this name, to which only pear flavor has been added.

Pliny the Younger already reported on sparkling wines made from apples and pears, so that it can look back on around two thousand years of history.
