Personal Wireless Telecommunications

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Personal Wireless Telecommunications ( PWT ) is an American standard for digital telephony. It is largely based on the European DECT standard.

The North American PWT standard offers the same services as DECT. It uses the same frame structure, MAC, DLC and NWK layers. However, different modulations are used and the frequency selection is different. Devices with PHE use the license-free frequencies between 1910 and 1920 MHz. PWT / E is an extension in the licensed band 1850–1910 and 1930–1990 MHz.

In 2004, the legal regulations for frequency usage were changed so that DECT devices with changed software for channel selection and RF power control can be used (see ETSI EN 300 175-1, chapter 5). The hardware agrees with DECT devices.
