Peter R. Hunt
Peter Roger Hunt (born March 11, 1925 in London , † August 14, 2002 in Santa Monica ) was a British film editor and director .
Career
Peter Hunt already gained his first film experience in The Thief of Baghdad and Life and Death of Colonel Blimp . After the war and after studying violin and art history, he returned to British film as an assistant editor. In films such as the Ferry to Hong Kong , The Last Voyage of Bismarck , Rebellion or Ipcress - he was ultimately responsible for editing the top secret himself . He worked no less than five times with Terence Young and seven times with Lewis Gilbert .
In James Bond, Dr. No Peter Hunt turned the first time the Jump Cut at. He also remained loyal to the film series in Kind regards from Moscow , Goldfinger , Fireball and You Only Live Twice . In the last two films mentioned, in addition to the editing, he also monitored the second camera team. Due to his previous achievements, he was allowed to direct the sixth James Bond film . The film On Her Majesty's Secret Service easily recouped the costs, but could no longer match the financial results of the previous films . The action scenes and the editing were unanimously praised.
Peter Hunt no longer accepted the offer from Eon Productions for another James Bond film. In addition to occasional television assignments, there were other action films in which he worked twice with Roger Moore , Lee Marvin and Charles Bronson . The literary film adaptation of Gulliver's Travels , which skillfully combined live and animated film recordings , fell out of the frame . He turned down the direction of Sag nie nie out of respect for Albert R. Broccoli .
His adopted son is Nicholas Kourtis. Peter Hunt died of heart failure.
