Peutenburger rocks

The Peutenburger Felsen is a striking rock formation on the Erlauf in Lower Austria.

The rocks at Peutenburg , rising up out of the river on both sides , were an impassable obstacle for a long time. The northern flank was blown up in 1544 for the construction of the Dreimärktestrasse . The remaining rock formation was declared a natural monument ( list entry ) by the Scheibbs district administration in 1927 .
