The Pentecostal church in the maximum security prison Los Olmos near La Plata , also called Unidad 25 ( unit 25 ), is a prison in Lisandro Olmos , approx. 80 km from Buenos Aires . It is the only evangelical prison in the world.

Unit 25 was established in 2003 as the world's first purely evangelical prison. Only evangelical Christians are allowed to sit there, but nobody is obliged to participate in the life of faith. A nearby Pentecostal church regularly supports the Christians in prison. The prison holds five services a week. Prison pastor David Gonzales is a prisoner himself. The robbery did his high school diploma in prison, became a Christian and is studying law.

In Argentina, around 10% of the population are evangelical, mostly Pentecostal , but most of the people are Catholic. In the big cities, which are growing rapidly, the establishment of a Catholic congregation takes a long time, and the Pentecostal churches there are growing faster. Poverty and the absence of the state are also said to be growth factors.

Evangelical Christians have proselytized in Argentine prisons since the 1970s. Many Argentine prisons have separate evangelical sections.
