Photon - Das Solarstrom-Magazin ( spelling : PHOTON ) is a German-language specialist magazine about photovoltaics .

Photon is aimed both at private individuals who operate or want to build their own solar power system, as well as at companies and investors who are concerned with developments in the photovoltaic market. The Photon Profi offshoot has been published monthly for installers since mid-2009.

history

The first edition appeared in February 1996 and had a print run of 10,000 copies. In the third quarter of 2012, Photon appeared with a circulation of 46,594 copies, of which around 12,000 were subscribers. New data on circulation and number of subscribers confirmed by the IVW test are not available. In the title advertisement for the magazine, IVW writes that Photon was excluded by the IVW administrative board in the fourth quarter of 2018 due to repeated violations of the IVW's statutes and guidelines.

The Spanish, US, French and Chinese editions have been discontinued. The Photon Profi magazine designed for craftsmen is also no longer published. The German, the international and - only as PDF - the Italian edition are currently being published. Since 2007 the magazine has been appearing late again and again. To this day there is a discussion on the photovoltaic forum.

The journalistic work of the Photon group is accompanied by the PhotonWatch blog. The recent history of the journal's editors can be found on the website. There is a discussion about the motivation behind this blog.
