Pyotr Teluschkin ( Russian Пётр Телушкин ; * unknown; † 1833 ) was a farmer and roofer from Yaroslavl who caused a sensation in 1830 with his repair of the spire of the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg , Russia .

The extremely steep and narrow spire of the cathedral in the area of the Peter and Paul Fortress was badly damaged by a lightning strike. The tower cross and the seven-meter-high angel over the golden ball threatened to fall. There was no time to erect scaffolding up to the 120 meter high spire. In this difficult situation Teluschkin offered to repair the spire immediately without having to build scaffolding. He climbed the top of the tower with a noose, which he slowly narrowed, fastened a rope ladder there and repaired the damage in six weeks of work.

Telushkin, who was later named as the “heavenly roofer” (Небесный кровельщик) as a result of his feat, is said to have received a so-called tsar's cup in addition to his wages , free consumption of vodka at state expense. This led to his premature death.
