The Place Marx Dormoy ( German Marx-Dormoy-Platz ) is a public square in Moulins , which is named after the socialist Marx Dormoy . It is completely surrounded by three-story houses and has an open space in the middle. It lies in a northeast-southwest orientation and is approx. 55 meters long and 20 meters wide.
The south-west side of the square is closed off by Rue Voltaire . A public building is located here, which was built in 1820 as a library, adapted to the proportions of the square. The city council obtained the building decision at the instigation of its mayor Champflour based on plans by the architect François Agnety . The library has now moved to another location. The letters LIBRARY PUBLIQUE have been removed, but are still visible on the sandstone facade due to differences in brightness.
At the opposite (head) end, the square closes with two symmetrical semicircles, but still leaves a street passage to connect to Rue Denain .
