Circuit board connector
A circuit board connector (also "edge connector", "edge connector") is a connector that is formed by copper surfaces in the edge area of a circuit board .
For this purpose, conductor tracks are routed to the edge of the circuit board in such a way that plug-in contacts are produced that fit into a suitable socket. The contacts are either hard gold-plated, tin-plated or provided with a special coating to prevent oxidation . An edge connector is an inexpensive solution, since only one socket is required for this plug connection and the costs for the connector can be saved.
Well-known examples of the use of circuit board connectors in the PC sector are ISA and PCI plug-in cards .
