Political parties in Azerbaijan
The Republic of Azerbaijan is a party democracy. The political parties largely determine politics in Azerbaijan. The position of the political parties is not described in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan . Its establishment and structure is regulated by a party law.
After the last parliamentary elections on November 1, 2015, the ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) has a majority of 72 seats in the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan . The remaining seats are distributed among the independent MPs and representatives of small parties. After the last parliamentary elections on November 1, 2015, ten political parties are represented in parliament.

The legal bases for the work of the political parties are primarily the constitution and the party law. In Section 5 of the Law on Political Parties, a general task of parties is to be involved in the formation of the political will of the people in all areas of public life.
