The Police and Border Guard Office ( Estonian Politsei- ja Piirivalveamet ) , which was founded in 2010 and is subordinate to the Estonian Ministry of the Interior and based in Tallinn, combines the tasks of border guards and police in one authority.

history

Today's Police and Border Protection Office was founded on January 1, 2010 by merging the previously independent Office for Citizenship and Migration ( Estonian Kodakondsuse- ja Migratsiooniameti ), the border troops ( Piirivalveameti ) and several police authorities ( Politseiameti , Keskkriminaalpolitsei and Julgestuspolitsei ). In order to facilitate the growing together of the new authority, in addition to the still existing technical structure, a regional structure (already existing in the majority of the predecessor authorities) into a northern, southern, eastern and western prefecture was made.

There are currently around 5,000 employees in the Police and Border Guard Office, making it one of the largest Estonian authorities. Your current boss is Elmar Vaher.
