Polytronics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The made-up word polytronics ( derived from " Polymers in electronics " in analogy to mechatronics ) describes the merging of plastic-based system functions into the vision of "intelligent plastic". Polytronics is a key technology with increasing relevance for a variety of applications. Organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) allow e.g. B. transparent displays for industry and medicine. But intelligent plastic also describes the interaction of different polymers with different elongation properties. By combining such substances, for example, a targeted change in shape can be achieved when the temperature increases.

application

Medical technology: Thrombosis, pulmonary embolism and stroke can be detected early with a polytronically equipped analyzer. In practice, this can be implemented, for example, with a small blood laboratory for the jacket pocket, which quickly analyzes the risk of a blood clot in the legs before a long-haul flight, or in a sensor wristband that can measure electrosmog and warns patients with pacemakers of life-threatening radiation.
