Poronkusema

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Poronkusema ( Finnish , literally "the piss of the reindeer ") is an old Finnish measure of length .

It used to be used in reindeer herding and developed out of the observation that reindeer cannot run and mictate at the same time . A poronkusema corresponds to the distance that a reindeer can cover without knocking off its water, i.e. a maximum of around 7.5 km.
