Preference

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In ecology, the area of a certain environmental factor that is particularly suitable for the life processes of certain organisms is referred to as a preference ( Latin : praeferendum - preferable ) . With the ability to freely choose a location, organisms settle in the area of preference. The optimum value within the preference is the physiological optimum .

This term is used to describe the effect of ecophysiological factors on organisms, which can be graphically represented in the form of a tolerance curve.
