Practice manager
The term "practice manager" describes the tasks and role of the work carried out , primarily by medical assistants (MFA), in medical practices or medical care centers . Practice managers are often also so-called first-time workers or senior MFA.

The job description of the medical assistant has changed significantly in the past 15 years. As a result of increasing challenges in the healthcare system, the tasks have become significantly more complex. In addition to medical and administrative organizational expertise, MFA is increasingly required to have leadership skills and independent action.

Continuing education content is regular:
- Business administration : the organizational, planning, financial and tax-related considerations and decisions for practice management. In addition, controlling should provide an overview of business developments.
- Practice management: planning and responsibility for the areas of practice inventory, rooms, appointment management, consultation hours, etc.
- Cash register and private billing: service documentation, preparation and execution of the cash register ( EBM ), private billing ( GOÄ ) as well as for other contracts (HZV) and IGEL services
- Quality management : Documentation of the work processes and qualitative further development of the medical practice
- Communication : Conversation with the patient and in the practice team
- Personnel management: selection, hiring, dismissal and management of medical assistants and other employees and their deployment planning. This also includes employee appraisals in the form of criticism, feedback and annual target agreement interviews.
- Legislation : laws, ordinances and guidelines that must be followed in outpatient health care.
- Practice EDP applications : Basic overview of the use and possibilities of practice software and other EDP applications, especially practice management software (PVS)
- Practice marketing: homepage, patient information, referral marketing
The practice manager should acquire a high level of professional competence through this training content.

salary
The practice manager's pay can vary widely.
Due to the professionalization of the practice management and the extended training of medical assistants, the practice manager can be classified in tariff group IV according to the collective agreement for medical assistants.
This corresponds to a practice manager's salary of € 2,019.77 from the 1st year of employment up to € 2,653.54 from the 17th year of employment.
Depending on the size and patient volume of the medical facility, much higher salaries for practice managers are also conceivable.
