Premio de Narrativa Breve Ribera del Duero

The Premio de Narrativa Breve Ribera del Duero is a biennial international Spanish-language literary prize awarded for the first time in 2009 . The prize money is 50,000 euros. This makes it one of the most highly endowed literary prizes in the world.

The first competition took place in 2008. 514 manuscripts by authors from twenty nations were sent in. In the second run there were 660 entries from writers from 23 countries. In the third competition in 2012, there were 863 manuscripts from 25 countries. Around 900 participants from 32 nations submitted entries for the fourth competition in 2015.

The jury of the 4th competition included Rodrigo Fresán as chairman, Pilar Adón, Jon Bilbao, Andrés Neuman and Guadalupe Nettel as the winner of the last competition. The finalists included Cristina Cerrada and Alberto Olmos from Spain, Vera Giaconi from Uruguay and Edmundo Paz Soldán from Bolivia.

The Ribera del Duero wine-growing region is the promoter , in cooperation with the editorial Páginas de Espuma in Madrid .
