Presses Universitaires de France
The Presses Universitaires de France (abbreviated with the Sigle PUF ) are the largest French university publisher . They were founded in Paris in 1921 .
The publishing house merged with the three publishing houses of Félix Alcan (specialized in philosophy), Leroux (specialized in history) and Rieder (literature in general) in the 1930s. Until 1968 the publishing house was headed by Paul Angoulvent. In 2000 the publishing house underwent radical changes, in the course of which the traditional bookstore in the Parisian university district was closed.
