Primary interop assemblies

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Primary interop assembly or PIA is a typed software interface for communication between different .NET programs.

description

A PIA is a unique assembly provided by the respective software manufacturer with type definitions (as metadata) of types. There can only be one PIA per program, which must be signed by the creator with a unique identifier (strong name).

With this technology it is possible to integrate the older COM technology into the .NET world.
