Prototype representation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The prototype representation (also prototype formation) is a theory from the field of cognitive psychology about the learning of concepts and is therefore part of the concept formation . The key message of this theory is that concrete terms are stored in the form of mental schemes (representations) of typical examples and not as the sum of the common properties of all representatives of this term. The term is particularly used in linguistics , which uses it to examine individual and group-specific models of representation.
