Pseudogentiliz
A pseudogentiliz is a provincial formation of a Roman family name, i.e. a gentile name . The term itself is not ancient, but modern. Pseudogentilizia are derived from an often Latin cognomen . This is then ended with a different ending, for example with -ius instead of just -us or with -inius instead of just -inus (e.g. Frontinius instead of Frontinus , or, see picture, Iucundinius instead of Iucundinus ). Compilations of this name formation show a certain accumulation in Lower Germany . It can also be found in other regions, for example on the dedication of Tiberinius Celerianus discovered in the London Borough of Southwark .
