The piece of furniture psyche is referred to in the Ladies Conversations Lexicon from 1838 as the dressing mirror, which was located in the dressing room .

Psyche is a piece of furniture that appeared in the style age of the Empire (1800–1830) and initially consisted of a standing mirror or a swiveling mirror. Small base cabinets with drawers or doors were added later. The psyche was particularly popular in the 1940s and 1950s.
