PVARP

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

PVARP is an acronym for "Post Ventricular Atrial Refractory Period" ( English "post ventricular-atrial refractory time") or ventricular refractory period . This is a parameter that plays a role in the pacemaker stimulation of DDD pacemakers. It describes the time interval after ventricular stimulation or sensing during which the channel of the atrial electrode does not react to detected signals. This is important in order to prevent the pacemaker from stimulating itself and to allow the heart to continue its own rhythm (e.g. in the case of intermittent ventricular disorders). The PVARP value is between 100 and 300 ms and is set individually for each patient.
