Pygidium

As pygidium (from ancient Greek πῡγίδιον - rump ) are referred to in zoological anatomy:

  • Pygidium (annelids) , the last, non-segment-like body section of annelids ( annelids )
  • Pygidium (trilobites) , the last tagma (body part) of the trilobites
  • Pygidium (insects) , the tergite of the last (visible) abdominal segment in some groups of insects
  • In older literature, the telson , the last, non-segment-like body section of the arthropod, is sometimes referred to as pygidium.
