Quadrilla marble run

The Quadrilla marble run is a variable marble run system. It consists of cuboids and connecting lines. The marbles can roll in both directions because the connecting lines are built exactly horizontally. The system received the gold medal in 2001 at the 53rd Ideas-Inventions-Novelties Exhibition .

The marble run is made up of different blocks with different inner workings and connecting rails. The marbles fall through the blocks and then visibly roll on the connecting rails. The connecting rails are set up horizontally without a slope. The marbles only get their momentum through the fall paths in the cuboid. This allows the marbles to roll on the connecting rails in both directions. The rolling direction is only determined by the place at which the marble reaches the connecting rail and by the selection of the cuboid.

history

This system was invented by Wilfried Braun from Mainz. In the beginning there was a son's wish to build a marble run with his father. Due to the lack of tools, the rails were mounted horizontally, unlike the classic ball tracks. To do this, they took a straight strip of wood from the hardware store and sawed a slot lengthways: the running groove was created.
