Röderwirtschaft

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Röderwirtschaft is a term for the temporary agricultural use of fresh fields in the forest ( Rottwald ), usually in connection with coppice forest .

The soil was overused by the Röderwirtschaft and the growth of the rejuvenation was impaired. Just like the forest pasture and the use of litter , the Röderwirtschaft has a large share in the forest devastation in large parts of Germany, which reached its peak in the 18th century and made regulated forestry necessary.

In the course of the 18th and 19th centuries, this type of use ceased practically everywhere; until then, especially in the poorer regions, it was simply necessary to supply the population. Since the 16th century there have been repeated attempts to ban them, which have mostly been unsuccessful.
