Receiver Independent Exchange Format

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Receiver Independent Exchange Format ( RINEX ) is a receiver-independent data storage and exchange format . It is used for GPS or nowadays general GNSS used -Rohdaten, so especially for pseudo distance measurements of code or carrier phase observations and the satellite ephemeris . The provision of this data enables a subsequent re-evaluation, mostly to determine position solutions with higher accuracy. This format was an important prerequisite for the development of scientific evaluation programs for the analysis of GNSS data. RINEX is supported by many manufacturers of GNSS satellite receivers.

The first RINEX format description was published in 1989 by the Astronomical Institute of the University of Bern . Format 3.0 was released in 2006 (version 3.03 from July 2015).
