Revenge

In ancient German, revenge denotes a special type of contract .

The term was probably used in the field of jurisprudence since the late 14th century , with the oldest evidence from the year 1402. It was in use until the 16th century , after which it gradually died out.

Respect usually referred to the treaty resulting from the settlement of a dispute or the conclusion of peace between two opponents. The origin of the term is seen in Middle High German rihtunge or rehtunge .
