The Bochum cycling track was opened in Bochum-Ehrenfeld in 1924 . It was located in the triangle of Kulmer Strasse, Friederikastrasse and Hattinger Strasse not far from the Bergmannsheil and near the Wiesental . The entrance was on Friederikastrasse. It held up to 12,000 spectators.

The first Bochum cycling track existed from 1889 to 1904 on Freudenbergstrasse in Bochum-Hamme . In 1924 a new railway was built in Bochum. In 1929 the railway was rebuilt; The architect was Clemens Schürmann . The banked turns had an angle of 46 degrees. Bike races and standing races were held. German championships were also held on the track, such as Gerhard Purann's sprint champion in 1939. Walter Lohmann from Bochum was one of the stars . Outside of the races, the track was also used for roller skating. When it was cold enough, the inner surface was prepared as an ice rink. In 1977 the railway was torn down. The VBW built on the site of high-rise buildings.
