Framework for the formation of priests in the German Bishops' Conference

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Second Vatican Council in 1969 entrusted the Bishops' Conferences with the decision on the requirements for the formation and formation of priests, so that “the general laws are adapted to the particular local and temporal circumstances so that the formation of priests always corresponds to the pastoral requirements of the countries in which the priests have to exercise their ministry ”.

In its first section, the document deals with the “educational goal”, broken down into the phases of education, spiritual life and human maturation, and theological education and pastoral qualification.

The second section deals with formation in a seminary or theological convict and the related responsibilities of the bishop and the priests. It explicitly regulates the tasks of the seminar leader, the spiritual and the shared responsibility of the students.
