The Ramanathaswami Temple is the main temple of Rameswaram in India .

The temple , the oldest parts of which date back to the 12th century, is located in the center of the village near the sea. It extends over an area of ​​six hectares and consists of a complex of several shrines, temple halls and column-supported corridors. The east entrance is crowned by a 38 meter high gopuram (gate tower), and a lower gopuram rises above the entrance in the west.

The temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines. In addition, the temple is one of the four temple complexes of Char Dham .
