Bumper protection is a relevant safety feature in the field of logistics . There is ram protection as a ram protection profile and as a ram buffer.

Impact protection profile

A ram protection profile is a profile that is mainly made of plastic, rubber or steel. This is attached horizontally to the side or rear of the floor frame profile of the body of a truck, for example. This protects the floor frame profile of the truck and any hinges that may be present during loading and unloading from contact with a floor conveyor or the loading ramp.

Ramming buffers are available in different versions, for example as a fixed "block" or as a rolling bumpers. These are mainly mounted on the left and right below the rear portal doors of a vehicle, trailer or semitrailer and on loading ramps. The ram protection buffer serves as protection for the ramp when docking backwards and as protection for the rear of the vehicle. Furthermore, when loading or unloading, the ram buffer should absorb the vertical friction caused by the load (transition building to the sprung vehicle) between the rear of the vehicle and the ramp.
