Chatter or Knatterpatronen are fireworks Class PM1. The whistling projectiles belonging to the genus of pyrotechnic ammunition are fired from alarm weapons with a launch cup. The 15 mm caliber cartridges are self-propelled, so they do not only fly through the gas pressure of the blank cartridge , but are propelled into the air independently after ignition. In contrast to the normal whistle cartridges , the sound of the rattle or rattle cartridges is very aggressive due to a highly frequented staccato ("rattle") and subjectively much louder than with the conventional whistle. The best-known manufacturers of rattle cartridges are Zink, ABA and Umarex .

use

The shooting of the cartridges on New Year's Eve is popular with everyone , although the law prescribes an enclosed property on which the cartridge must be fired and must land again after it has burned down. In Germany, various fireworks manufacturers offer rattle cartridges, which can be purchased all year round because they belong to the PM1 class. The actual use of Ratterpatrone refers - similar to the scarecrow - to the purpose of deterrence of birds , for example, in the wine-growing region or at airports..
