Raymond Broadley Etherington-Smith (born April 11, 1877 in Putney , London , † April 19, 1913 in London) was a British rower and Olympic champion in eighth .

Raymond Etherington-Smith rowed first for the London Rowing Club and later for the Leander Club . He received his education at Radley College and then at Trinity College , Cambridge. From 1898 to 1900 he took part in the Boat Race for Cambridge and won in 1899 and 1900, with his brother Thomas competing in the Oxford boat in 1900. In 1901, 1903 and 1905 Raymond Etherington-Smith won the Henley Royal Regatta with the eighth of the Leander Club . In the 1908 Olympic Regatta, which was also held in Henley , Etherington-Smith won the final with the eighth of the Leander Club against the Belgian large boat, which had won the Henley Royal Regatta in 1906 and 1907.

Etherington-Smith became a doctor in London after studying medicine. As a surgeon at St Bartholomew's Hospital , he contracted an operation and died in 1913.
