Real-time scheduler

A real-time scheduler (RTS), a control program, is the process scheduler of a real-time operating system .

An RTS is to be distinguished from schedulers, which only offer real-time elements but cannot guarantee hard real-time. This usually applies to process schedulers used in desktop systems.
