Red Hot Organization

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Red Hot Organization is a non-profit organization in New York City , the world against HIV / AIDS with funds from the pop culture fights.

It was founded in 1989 by John Carlin and Leigh Blake after a wave of AIDS deaths among New York artists and intellectuals. The first project was a compilation CD called Red Hot + Blue , on which various well-known artists reinterpreted songs by Cole Porter . The success of the album, which was released in 1990 and sold over a million copies, made it possible to support numerous AIDS initiatives.

Since then, 15 more compilations have been published. Together with other media activities and donations, the Red Hot Organization has so far been able to give more than 10 million dollars to worldwide AIDS projects that it has classified as worthy of support.
