Riding tax

The riding tax is a horse tax from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . she is

  • a fee intended for the construction and maintenance of bridle paths.
  • a group-profit special tax .

According to §62 of the Landscape Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (LG NRW), riding in the open countryside and in the forest is only permitted if the horse has a valid license plate on both sides. With the issuance of the license plate or the sticker for it, a fee is levied. It is 25 euros, for riding stables 75 euros per license plate and year.

The independent cities and districts as the lower landscape authorities are responsible for issuing the license plates.

The funds collected are administered by the district government and made available for the corresponding measures.
