The remaining high moor area in Leezdorf and Rechtsupweg is a protected, extensive natural monument in the area of ​​the joint municipality of Brookmerland in the Lower Saxony district of Aurich in East Frisia . It bears the number ND AUR 00122.

Description of the area

The extensive natural monument designated on February 17, 1989 is located east of the Heideweg in the area of Leezdorf , a sub-municipality of the joint municipality of Brookmerland . It largely consists of an elongated remnant raised bog base with fallow land in front of it. In the area of ​​the natural monument, there are still afforested areas, small ponds and agricultural areas. The district placed the area under protection due to its importance for local history and science, to protect against destruction and change and as a resting, feeding and breeding biotope for various bird species.
