Richard Cementarius
Richard Cementarius (also known as Richard the Mason ) was a Scottish architect and became the first Provost of Aberdeen in 1272 . At the court of Alexander III. he held the title of King Master Mason .
He designed the old tower of Drum Castle , as well as the nearby Brig o 'Balgownie . Both structures have unmistakable pointed arches that are characteristic of his work.
