Rincón is a community of around 17,000 people on the west coast of the island of Puerto Rico . The community is popular with mostly American vacationers, mainly because of the almost empty beaches and the water sports facilities. Rincon achieved international fame as the venue for the World Surfing Championships in 1968 .
