The Robin R.1180 Aiglon is a four-seat travel and training aircraft produced by the French manufacturer Avions Robin .
development
The Aiglon (German for "young eagle") is a single-engine, all-metal low -wing aircraft with a rigid nose and main landing gear. She is powered by a Lycoming O-360 . The design is based on the Robin HR.100 , but is lighter and has newly developed control surfaces. Visually it is similar to other Robin designs, such as B. the DR 400 , but in contrast to this has straight wings and is structurally very different due to the metal construction. A special feature of the R.1180 is the five-degree asymmetrical arrangement of the motor axis, which presumably serves to compensate for the rotor effect.
The prototype flew for the first time on March 25, 1977, the production version was certified on September 19, 1978.
Pilots appreciate the Aiglon because of its good-natured flight characteristics and its - especially compared to other models - its large range, even when fully loaded.
