Rodeo (Chile)
Chilean rodeo is the most popular sport in Chile after soccer . For many Chileans it is a national sport, but it is controversial. It is practiced in all parts of the country, but mainly in central Chile.
The rodeo competition consists of the so-called collera , whereby two Huasos , as the Chilean farm workers (comparable to the cowboys ) are called, have to catch cattle and bulls with their horses in three different ways. Different points (maximum 4) are awarded by a jury.
The organization AnimaNaturalis , in cooperation with other associations and individuals, organizes annual parades against alleged animal abuse at the rodeos .
