Pipe cutter

A pipe cutter , pipe cutter or roll cutter is a hand tool used to cut metal pipes. It consists of a C-shaped support (similar to a simple screw clamp with an immovable clamping arm). Two rollers and a cutting wheel are mounted on the opposite legs. The distance in between can be changed using a threaded spindle.

To cut a pipe, the tool is opened completely and the pipe is inserted. The cutting wheel is now pressed against the pipe with the threaded spindle. If you now turn the pipe cutter radially around the pipe, a notch is created. The notch is deepened by readjusting the cutting depth using the threaded spindle. This procedure is carried out until the pipe is cut. This tool is used, for example, in water and heating installations .

A type of countersink is often built into the handle of the tool with which the interfaces can be deburred on the inside . There are additional tools for deburring the outside. The pipe cutter with cutting wheel can also be used for plastic pipes.
