Rombach circuit
The Rombach circuit is an electrical circuit that doubles the voltage at low speeds to generate a higher current through the excitation coil. It is named after its inventor Peter Rombach .
Application and functionality
The Rombach circuit was used in alternators , among other things .
As long as the relay is closed, the circuit basically works like a push-pull voltage doubler . If the voltage supplied by the alternator is high enough at higher speeds, the voltage doubler is switched off by opening the relay.
