Ruststone

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A grate stone , also known as a grate bar , is a mostly metallic component on which the fuel to be burned lies in a grate furnace . It thus limits the combustion chamber in the vertical direction downwards. The grate stone is mostly moved within the grate furnace in order to transport the fuel inside the boiler and then only covered with ash towards the end of the grate, to transport this too.

Furthermore it is mostly cooled by the supplied combustion air, or alternatively it is built separately water-cooled.
