Red, White & Blue

Rot, Weiß & Blau (orig. Red, White & Blue: Finding Out the Hard Way ) is a book for young people published in 1996 by the English author Robert Leeson . The German edition appeared in 1997.

Eleven-year-old Wain, von Gawain (named after the Arthurian knight Gawain ), receives letter paper in the British national colors red, white and blue from his grandparents. At first he thinks it is silly, but then he finds it quite practical and starts to write in the papers.

The white paper:

Wain uses them for the school project " Project pen pal ".

The red paper:

In it he describes his life. He lives with his mother and older brother Lance (named after Lancelot) and is getting ready to go to his new school. His father had moved into the Falklands War before Wain was born and is believed to have been lost. At first it is difficult for Wain to get used to the new school and yet he finds friends and has to learn what trust means.

The blue paper:

Under the pseudonym Gaw Penhallon, Wain writes his fantasy story " To the rescue of Sylvaniens ".

Sylvanien is threatened by the cruel Tauro, who demands of Queen Sylva that she marry him. The only hope to save Sylvania is the lost magic sword Exordo. Sylva sends her eldest son, Prince Tancelo, into the world with a knighthood to find Exordo and free Sylvanien. But Tancelo's younger brother Prince Ingawa, together with his comrade Maghra, also go in search of Exordo.
