A Rotmarderpinsel is a fabricated from marten hair artist brush . Red sable is a trade name, there is no animal called red sable. The name indicates the fire marten (the Altai weasel ), whose tail hair is used to make fine brushes.

The hair of the red sable brush comes from different types of weasel . The quality of the brush depends on the mix ratio and the length of the hair.
