Rotterdam International Safety Center

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rotterdam International Safety Center (RISC) is a training and exercise center for fire brigades in the Dutch city of Rotterdam , which is operated by the company RISC Fire & Safety Training BV. The center was founded in 1986 and is located on an area of around 46,000 square meters near the port of Rotterdam. It is used annually by around 25,000 fire brigades from around the world, including around 8,000 from Germany.

The focus of the training opportunities is realistic training in fire fighting, such as house fires, fires in industrial plants or rail accidents. The RISC consumes around 80,000 liters of petrol every month to simulate various fires. Due to the fact that the center is equipped with appropriate systems, such as a refinery model, it is particularly important for plant fire departments (including airport fire departments) and the crews of oil rigs.

RISC Fire & Safety Training BV also has its own fire brigade and technology that can be used worldwide for monitoring construction sites and other dangerous work. In addition, a specialized emergency response team is available at the company's headquarters in Rotterdam around the clock for worldwide emergency aid in the event of fires on ships and in refineries. The company also offers advice on fire-fighting issues for authorities and companies.
